Welcome to Speech and Language in Tara's RoomSwinging on the swings 1. Use short sentences: "You are swinging" "You are going up" "This is fun" By doing this you are demonstrating verbal examples of syntax and appropriate grammar. 2. Use many sounds: "WOW"
"WEEEE" "UUUUP" "Uh-Oh" Have your child say these sounds with you.
3. Give the child a chance to request more by stopping in the middle of having fun. Have them request "more" using signs or words.
4. Remember another part of language is listening and hearing. Your child needs to be taught how to focus and listen to the sounds around them. While outside remind them to listen. "Did you hear that?", "I hear a dog" , "I hear an airplane">
Everyone tends to forget that being outside does not just make the physical therapist happy!!!!!! Tammy |
